Leapmotor's new compact electric hatchback, the B05, has achieved a 5-star ANCAP safety rating following local testing under ANCAP’s 2026-2028 assessment criteria, recognising its strong performance across ANCAP's comprehensive safety assessment program. This ANCAP 5-star rating applies to all Leapmotor B05 variants in Australia and New Zealand.
The Leapmotor B05 recorded strong results across ANCAP's Crash Protection, Crash Avoidance, and Post Crash assessment areas. The vehicle achieved a 92 per cent Crash Protection score under ANCAP's 2026-2028 testing criteria and delivered particularly strong performances in side impact protection, lane departure collision avoidance and whiplash protection, reflecting its comprehensive approach to occupant and road user safety.
“The Leapmotor B05 is among the first models assessed against ANCAP's new criteria, setting a strong early standard for five-star safety,” said ANCAP Chief Executive, Carla Hoorweg.
Key safety technologies fitted as standard include autonomous emergency braking with cyclist and pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, emergency lane keeping, blind spot monitoring, driver monitoring systems and child presence detection.
